An academic journal is a workflow, not a database. Editors chase reviewers; reviewers chase reminders; authors chase editors. Our Journal Management System replaces every one of those chases with a stateful, timestamped workflow that everyone can see. It has been running the peer-review pipeline for The Journal of Applied and Pharmaceutical Sciences and other titles for years.

Manuscript submission for authors. Structured submission with cover letter, keywords, competing-interests declaration, funding statement, author contribution matrix (CRediT), suggested and opposed reviewers, and full-text file upload with format validation.

Reviewer invitations and reminders. Editors send invites from within the system. Reviewers accept, decline, or propose alternate reviewers; automated reminders fire on a schedule the editor sets. Review forms are structured (scored plus narrative) and blinded per the journal's policy - single-blind, double-blind, or open review.

Editorial decisions. Editor-in-chief and associate editors get a decision workflow: accept, minor revision, major revision, reject with resubmission, or reject outright. Every decision is timestamped, attached to reviewer reports, and communicated to the author with the journal's branded email.

Production and publication. Accepted manuscripts move to a production queue - copy-editing, typesetting, DOI registration (Crossref), and publication in the journal's online archive with citation formats (APA, Vancouver, IEEE, Chicago) and metrics-ready HTML plus PDF.

Compliance and indexing. Structured metadata for PubMed, Scopus, DOAJ, PMC and Crossref. COPE-aligned workflows for retraction, correction and expression of concern.

Manuscript To Publication, End To End

Author submission, plagiarism screening, single or double-blind peer review, revisions, production, DOI registration and online publication - all in one workflow with journal-branded email at every step.

Editorial workflow

Everything peer review requires

  • Author submission portal

Structured submission with metadata, cover letter, competing interests, funding, author contributions, and file upload with format validation.

  • Editor dashboard

Editor-in-chief sees every manuscript, its stage, ageing, assigned associate editor and reviewer status - one screen, colour-coded urgency.

  • Reviewer invitation & reminders

One-click invites, accept / decline responses, suggest alternate reviewers, and automated reminder cadence per journal policy.

  • Single, double-blind or open review

Per-journal review policy configuration. Author identity is stripped from reviewer view when the policy is blinded.

  • Structured review forms

Scored dimensions (originality, methodology, presentation), narrative comments to author, confidential comments to editor.

  • Revision & resubmission cycle

Author response letter, track-changes upload, editor and reviewer re-review, up to N revision rounds configurable per journal.

  • Plagiarism check integration

Turnitin / iThenticate URL passthrough, similarity report attachment to the submission, and editor gate before assignment.

  • Copy-editing & production queue

Accepted manuscripts move to production - copy-editor, typesetter, proofreader queues with author sign-off on proofs.

  • DOI registration (Crossref)

Automatic DOI assignment on acceptance, Crossref XML deposit, and DOI resolution to the article landing page.

  • Journal-branded email

Every automated email is sent from the journal's own SMTP with the journal's letterhead, signature and branding.

  • Public journal website

Public-facing site with current issue, archives, aims & scope, editorial board, author guidelines, and search across all published articles.

  • PubMed / DOAJ / Scopus metadata

Structured metadata export for indexing services - JATS XML, JSON, and OAI-PMH endpoint for harvesters.
